ABOUT US
At Bendshelters, we believe everyone should have a space to connect with their community. With displaced individuals spending an average of 17 years in resettlement camps, we understand the importance of social infrastructure beyond housing.

Yet, designing and building social infrastructure are challenging due to variation in size, access to materials, construction complexities, substantial cost, and long-term strategic planning. Despite these obstacles, we're committed to creating inclusive spaces that foster well-being, purpose, and hope.
OUR APPROACH
Our solution offers affordable, locally sourced, and easily deployable bamboo structures, addressing the need for social infrastructure in rebuilding communities. These multipurpose spaces are scalable and adaptable to various needs such as schools and clinics. By working closely with rural communities, NGOs, and refugees, we ensure a participatory approach that strengthens community belonging, ownership, and livelihoods. This sustainable solution is tailored for displaced and underserved communities globally, where bamboo is readily available.
IMPACT
The implementation provides essential social infrastructure in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. By fostering community participation in the construction process, we empower local residents, instilling a sense of ownership and pride in their surroundings. The adaptability and scalability of our solution enable it to meet diverse community needs, contributing to improved well-being, education, and healthcare outcomes. Our solution plays a pivotal role in rebuilding and revitalizing displaced and underserved communities, creating lasting positive change for generations to come.
